Scoil Acla - Tin Whistle Classes

The tin whistle also known as a Flageolet, is a simple six-holed woodwind instrument which has an end blown fipple putting it in the same category as the recorder. A tin whistle player is called a tin whistler or whistler.

Traditional Irish music is closely associated with the tin whistle and uses a number of ornaments to embellish the music, including cuts, strikes and rolls which gives Irish Tin whistle playing a distinctive character of sound. Most playing is legato with ornaments to create breaks between notes, rather than tongued.
